NGO Innovation Cluster for Plant Proteins is implementing a cooperation and research and development project, for which we have received support from the measure “Innovation Cluster” under the “Estonian Rural Development Plan for 2014–2020”. The project period is from February 2019 to February 2023.

The project has been approved in the priority subject area “Improving the production and supply chain of Estonian plant protein”. The aim of the cluster is to valorize protein-rich crops and process them into value-added products, for which four innovation activities are planned:

– crop selection and suitability for protein isolation;

– isolation, concentration and characterization of plant proteins;

– development of extrusion technology for plant proteins;

– development of technology for fermented plant milks.

The cluster has 12 members who are agricultural producers and processors and two research and development partners.
